Iqilu·Lightning News, October 17th, organized by the DRTT, the Development Research Center of the People’s Government of Shandong Province, and Shandong Radio and Television Station, the 14th Five-Year Plan and Research Activities of "Seeing Shandong Through The Eyes of High-end Think Tanks",  was held in Dezhou from October 16 to 18. On the morning of the 17th, the experts came to Songuo Motors Co., Ltd. for an on-site investigation.

Songuo Motors, registered in Dezhou New Energy Equipment Complex of High-tech Zone, is an enterprise that specializes in R&D, production, and sales of new energy vehicles and core components, based on mastering all the core technologies of new energy vehicles. The Songuo New Energy Vehicle Project covers an area of more than 2,000 mu(about 1,333,333㎡), with a total investment of CNY 8.28 billion and a building area of 956,000 square meters. In the first phase, three major workshops for injection molding, body, and final assembly will be built, as well as supporting projects such as Songuo-EngineTech and EPT system (motor, electronic control, battery). After the project achieve full capacity, the annual output of new energy auto parts can reach 230,000 sets. It is estimated that the annual operating income will exceed CNY 20 billion, profits and taxes will be CNY 1.7 billion, and 3,000 people will be employed.

The journalists from Lightning News learn that unlike the conventional automobile industry which final-assembly is usually completed locally before selling, Songuo Motors insists on local manufacturing modular components which then will be delivered to overseas workshops for final-assembly and local sale. The workshops are established by collaboration between Songuo Motors and world-known automakers. Until now, Songuo Motors has completed the overseas market layout and the construction planning of over 40 SKD workshops in France, Switzerland, Germany, Saudi Arabia, etc., and 9 of which have been established in Bulgaria, Nigeria, Portugal, Morocco, Italy, Cameroon, ROK and so on.

Wang Yanqing, Vice president of DRTT shared his views after visiting the support project of Songuo Motors, “The executive meeting of the State Council passed the development planning of the new energy vehicle industry in October which clarified the orientation of NEV development. Firstly, strengthen the research and development on technologies; then deepen the international collaboration; thirdly, further implement the infrastructure construction for charging and hydrogen filling; last but not least, broaden the application in the public service sector.”

“Songuo Motors project is an excellent practice of the national policy guidance, which is foresighted and will bring driving forces to the development of China’s NEV supporting industry including the industry optimization of Dezhou,” said Wang Yanqing. As for Dezhou, the next step would be achieving key technologies breakthrough by deepening international technologies bring-in and cooperation; meanwhile, broaden the cooperation and application in supporting public facility and public service sectors, especially the sectors related with the policy orientation, such as logistics, a new application of public facilities and so on.

The systematical innovation of new material, new energy, and new technology is the highlight of Songuo Motor’s vehicles, Wang Yanqing said, “It set a good example for the new energy and related industries, even the whole automobile industry, and will bring positive influence and forces for the industry with its outclass approach.”

So far, Songuo Motors has completed the establishment of 8 vehicle platforms and the research & development of 20 types of new products including SUV, cargo truck, compact vehicle, motorcycle, etc. The R & D and production of special-purpose electric tricycle, medium-size electric bus, and its battery swapping system, intelligent control system, hybrid power system are underway.
